Generative Engine Optimization for AI Search Visibility
Your buyers are no longer discovering brands only through traditional search results. Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT Search and other generative interfaces increasingly synthesize answers from multiple sources.
YourDigitalWeb builds the technical, semantic and authority signals that make a brand easier to crawl, retrieve, understand, trust and surface across AI-assisted search.
SEO foundation. Entity architecture. Information gain. Structured data. Digital PR. AI visibility measurement.
What GEO actually is
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the operational layer that extends modern SEO into AI-driven discovery.
The objective is not to “hack an LLM”. The objective is to improve the probability that your brand, pages, products, experts and evidence are available when a search or AI system retrieves sources to answer a user’s question.
That means working on the website, the knowledge around the brand and the external authority signals that support its claims.
Crawl
Can search and AI crawlers access the page and render the content?
Retrieve
Can the system match your pages to the right query, entity and intent?
Trust
Is the answer supported by evidence, expertise and corroborating signals?
The AI Search Technical Stack
The visibility problem is rarely one single factor. We audit and optimize the complete chain from crawler access to business impact.
01 — Access & rendering
robots.txt, HTTP status, WAF/CDN rules, JavaScript rendering, noindex controls, canonical consistency and crawl paths.
02 — Index & retrieval
Indexability, duplication, page intent, internal linking, semantic relevance and the ability to retrieve the best URL for a question.
03 — Entity layer
Organization, Person, Product, Service and location relationships; consistent naming; author and brand identity; sameAs and reference hygiene.
04 — Evidence layer
First-party expertise, unique data, examples, expert attribution, source transparency, comparisons, limitations and verifiable claims.
05 — Authority layer
Digital PR, editorial mentions, backlinks, citations, reviews and credible third-party corroboration around the same brand and topics.
06 — Measurement layer
Prompt sets, source overlap, AI referral traffic, generative-search visibility, assisted conversions and iteration priorities.
Technical reality, not GEO theatre
AI search is evolving quickly, which makes it easy to sell shortcuts that are not supported by how major search systems actually work.
Our approach is deliberately conservative on claims and aggressive on execution: fix crawlability, build unique information, clarify entities, strengthen authority and measure what changes.
SEO is still the foundation
Google explicitly states that core SEO practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode. Crawlability, indexability, quality and useful content still matter.
There is no magic “GEO schema”
Structured data remains useful for SEO and machine clarity, but Google does not require a special schema type for generative AI visibility.
llms.txt is not a Google ranking lever
Google states that it does not use llms.txt for visibility in Search or generative Search features. We treat it as optional experimentation for systems that may choose to consume it — never as a substitute for SEO.
Crawler controls are platform-specific
For ChatGPT Search eligibility, OpenAI recommends allowing OAI-SearchBot. Robots rules, CDN security and bot protection need to be checked at infrastructure level.
Our GEO Audit goes deeper than prompt screenshots
Prompt visibility is useful, but it is only an observation layer. A serious audit connects what AI systems currently surface to the technical and semantic reasons behind the result.
Entity mapping
How search systems can identify your organization, experts, products, services and relationships.
Technical eligibility
Crawler access, indexing, rendering, canonicals, robots controls, JavaScript, page performance and content accessibility.
Content evidence
Missing expert evidence, commodity copy, unsupported claims, shallow answers and content gaps across the buyer journey.
Authority gap
Mentions, links, digital PR, reputation and external corroboration versus the brands already being surfaced.
Entity architecture before keyword expansion
Keyword lists do not resolve identity. AI systems need consistent signals about who is speaking, what the brand does, where it operates and which expertise supports each claim.
We review organization and author pages, product/service definitions, internal linking, terminology consistency, structured data and third-party references so the knowledge around the brand is less ambiguous.
Organization
Clear legal/brand identity, locations, service scope and consistent references.
Experts
Named authors, professional expertise, bios, content ownership and attributable experience.
Products & services
Unambiguous definitions, use cases, audiences, attributes and relationships to the brand.
Information gain: give AI systems a reason to use your source
Generic content is easy to replace. We design pages around information competitors cannot reproduce without doing the work themselves.
First-party data
Benchmarks, observations, survey data, product performance, proprietary datasets and internal research.
Expert judgment
Named experts explaining trade-offs, edge cases, failure modes, methodology and practical constraints.
Original examples
Real screenshots, workflows, case patterns, before/after evidence and implementation details.
Decision content
Comparisons, matrices, pros/cons, selection criteria and transparent limitations that help a buyer make a choice.
Multimodal assets
Images, diagrams, video, product data and local assets that make the page more useful beyond plain text.
Source clarity
Dates, authorship, references, methodology, update cadence and factual transparency around important claims.
Optimize for the research journey, not one exact query
Generative search can expand a user question into multiple related retrieval tasks. The implication is not “create hundreds of thin pages”. It is to build strong topic coverage around the real decision journey.
We map commercial intent, informational sub-questions, comparison criteria, objections, entities and related evidence into a content architecture that works for humans first and retrieval systems second.

Percentages above are illustrative visual weights for the content architecture — not ranking scores.
Authority is built outside your website too
A brand cannot manufacture trust only with its own copy. AI and search systems can compare claims with what reputable third parties say about the company, its people and its products.
Our GEO programs can therefore connect technical SEO with Digital PR: authoritative mentions, relevant backlinks, expert contributions, citations, press coverage and consistent brand facts across external sources.
Editorial corroboration
Earn coverage where your audience and search systems already look for trusted context.
Co-citations and mentions
Build consistent third-party references around the same brand, experts, services and topics.
Link quality over volume
Prioritize relevance, credibility and real editorial context instead of synthetic mention campaigns.
Reputation consistency
Resolve conflicting brand facts, outdated profiles and weak entity references across the web.
One strategy, multiple AI discovery surfaces
We do not promise a universal ranking factor across platforms. We build a resilient information and authority layer, then measure how the brand appears across the search experiences that matter to your audience.
Google AI Overviews / AI Mode
SEO eligibility, useful non-commodity content, index quality, multimodal assets and Search Console visibility.
ChatGPT Search
Public crawlability, OAI-SearchBot access, source eligibility, brand/entity clarity and referral tracking.
Gemini
Google ecosystem visibility plus clear source and entity signals across the public web.
Perplexity
Source usefulness, authority, retrieval relevance and answer-supporting evidence.
Measure GEO like a visibility system, not a vanity score
A single “AI score” is useful for triage, but it cannot explain business impact. We combine platform observations with web analytics, search data and conversion signals.
In 2026, Google has also begun rolling out dedicated generative-AI visibility reporting in Search Console to a subset of sites, reinforcing the need to connect AI exposure with existing SEO measurement.
Prompt visibility
Presence across a controlled set of buyer, category, comparison and expert prompts.
Source & citation overlap
Which domains and URLs are being used when your brand or competitors appear.
AI referral traffic
Track referral sessions where platforms expose identifiable traffic sources.
Business impact
Qualified visits, assisted conversions, leads, revenue and brand discovery tied back to content and authority work.

GEO / AI Search Optimization FAQ
Direct answers to the questions we hear from international SEO and marketing teams.
Is GEO different from SEO?
GEO is best treated as an extension of SEO into generative and AI-assisted discovery. Core SEO remains necessary; GEO adds entity architecture, retrieval analysis, authority/citation readiness and AI visibility measurement.
Do you guarantee that ChatGPT or Google AI will cite us?
No. No agency can credibly guarantee inclusion or citations from independent AI or search systems. We improve the technical and authority conditions that make visibility more likely and then measure the outcome.
Do we need llms.txt?
Not for Google AI Search. Google states that it does not use llms.txt for Search visibility. We only consider it as an optional experimental file where another system may choose to consume it.
Do we need special GEO structured data?
No special GEO schema is required by Google. We use standard structured data where it accurately describes real entities and supports broader SEO or rich-result eligibility.
Can you optimize for ChatGPT Search?
We can audit crawl access, including OAI-SearchBot eligibility, technical discoverability, content/entity signals and external authority, then monitor brand and source visibility across relevant prompts.
How do you measure GEO performance?
We use controlled prompt sets, source/citation analysis, AI referral traffic where measurable, search-platform visibility and business KPIs such as qualified visits, leads and conversions.
Stop optimizing only for rankings. Build visibility for the full AI search layer.
